I am recently returning to competing after a long break and need to purchase a jacket. I'm short bodied so needs to be made to measure, but am open to recommendations on shop bought ones.

As it's going to be costly I would like it to cover dressage, sj (poss showing)?

I like the softshell (sportier ones) are these permitted in dressage? Do they look good, or do we like more traditional ones?

Also what is the deal with velvet collar, yay or neigh?

Which type and colour of jacket would see me through all 3 phases?

Horse is a chessie btw.

Thanks.

Hacking jacket would do all, i got a very good one from Shires, dark green tweed with velvet collar and i am short and round! Not seen anyone doing dressage in a soft shell only jumpers. Hacking jacket can be worn with tie for showing and stock for dressage and comp shirt for jumping, also loads of colours available so you can go with blue/brown/green/grey, go on line and have a look at some. Mears do made to measure and are very reasonable.

A tweed show jacket will allow you to do all three disciplines.

Not sure but I don't think the softshell jackets are permitted for dressage.

Velvet collars aren't my taste but it doesn't really make a difference if your jacket has one.

:D
