I want a pair of country boots, not to wear for yard stuff but just when I go to places like Burghley, for occasional walks, day trips etc.

I really want a black pair though as I don't really wear brown but the only ones I can find that come in black are Dublin river boots which I know don't have the best reputation. I also only want to spend around £100 (definitely no more than £150).

Any recommendations or do you think that the Dublin ones would be ok for what I want?

Tea & scones for anyone that can help :)

Not Ariat. Mine are knackered all split and me feet get soaked in them- They are less than a year old and only had light use.
I have some Kinpurnie boots from Derby House and i rate those when they are on offer which they were last time i looked!

Whatever You Chose DO NOT BUY the Sherwood Furlong Boots third pair about to go back in 2 weeks they are claimed fully waterproof to the top and fully sealed. This is certainly not the case 2 pairs returned to local supplier who said waste of time trying a third pair as they will leak just the same! I was willing to try a third pair surely they carnt all be faulty:confused:

I then spoke to another supplier who said he always water tested the boots because of quality issues he has had with Sherwood Dalton & Furlong Boots and he had sent all his Dalton boots back to Sherwood 60 pairs so I thought in business this time:D WRONG

Boots arrived next day as promised looked better quality and the foot bed had been altered It is now no longer "stitched straight through the waterproof membrane" and the waterprooof membrane looked better finished at the back gusset where they also leak tried on the boots fine putting the paper packing back into the boots I noticed the toe packing on each boot was damp, one more so than the other at the back of the packing where the seam is. So this pair arrived already leaking before they had been worn outside the House.

Next morning I spoke to supplier who was not very impressed as Sherwood had told all the problems were sorted and he told me to go out and test the boots and report back to him, friday night walked dog in them dry grass fine walked through the stream sligtly above ankle deep both boots leaking within 5 paces got out quickly!

Stuffed some paper in the boots over night Saturday morning set of to walk the dog on the usual circuituous route wet grass both boots letting water through the WP membrane in less than 5 minutes at 10 minutes feet soaked and boots making pssting sound with each step where water was bubbling out in front of the instep outstep seam just above the sole. 15 minutes feet absolutely saturated. 20 minutes free water accumulating in the boots and at 25 minutes squelch squelch NOT IMPRESSED WATERPROOF I THINK NOT.:mad:

Got home removed sopping boots wet socks jods that the water was creeping up the legs. Dug out old used and abused Cabotswood Burford Boots good boots but plug ugly they about like site wellies.

By which time it had been chucking it down again and repeated the walk dog looking slightly bemused at 25 minutes feet still toasty warm and DRY so I thought I know went and stood in stream for 5 minutes and then walked home with nice warm dry feet.

SHERWOOD FURLONG BOOTS ARE NOT AT ALL WATERPROOF AS CLAIMED AND I WOULD RECCOMEND EVERYONE TO AVOID THEM AT ALL TIMES.

I think their is going to be some sport this week

Could anyone tell me how they got on with their Kinpurnie Boots? I just ordered a full length winter pair for myself and a shorter pair as a Christmas present for my Mum. I'm between sizes so ordered a size up, was this the right thing to do? I'm just a bit worried about the quality. I've had the same pair of Ariat Grasmere boots for the past four years and they have just been fantastic. The Kinpurnie boots looked great in the photos online at Derby House and were a really good price. Are they an item which are always on offer (I've noticed Derby House doing this with other items)?

Would be great to hear opinions!

Thanks
