which do you all prefer chaps or gaiters?

following on from the post below! which do you prefer and why?

both really comfy, I have gibbins (i think regent) chaps, and ariat crowne pro gaiters, the gaiters are positively beautiful for comps, but wear them other times too. Both comfy, gaiters just smarter.

I ride in Joddy boots and chaps. I find them way comfier than long riding boots or gaiters.

My chaps do up with velcro so they're easier to get on/off in winter when your hands are freeeeezzzzing!!!!!

hmm actually have to say, if gaiters are going to look good in the long run, one tends to have to buy then so they fit right up into the back of your knee. Until the leather gives, they were murder!

I have both, but I find my gaiters (treadstep) give me a more secure lower leg position. They look more flattering than my chaps too!

I ride in chaps for hacking and gaiters for schooling. I like the support that gaiters give my leg.

thanks for your replies. I've always ridden in chaps but they are looking really tatty now and I just needed an excuse to buy some gorgeous looking gaiters

I like both, but they only chaps I will wear are leather

I prefer gaiters, just because they look smarter.

I'm a leather boots only person! I have both chaps and gaiters and always get fed up with the hassle of putting them on and taking them off, much easier to just pop on my Mountain Horse long boots
