I always use either bandages or horseware legwraps with overreach boots after having a lot of bother with travel boots. It was a far cheaper option for me.
i have a set of amigo travel boots but my own personal preferance is to bandage a i think that way they have better protection and r less likely to trip over them.
I'm not keen on the shaped hock travel boots (and my horse hates them!) but have an ancient quilted set that are like a tube so they extend above the hocks but without the shaping. No idea who made them, but love them and would definitely buy them again if I ever stumble across them
Mark Todd - did have woof wear but they seemed to sag after a while! BUT have just seen that thermatex do some which would look to be nice on a cold day but not sure how much they would offer in protection? My MT ones have taken a lot of bashing and are still good as new - plus they will go over bandages (dressage) or stable (after XC)
As horsey kicks the box to shreds if anything goes a millimetre over his knee or hock, use Rhinegold half travel boot/wraps. They cost about £15 and have been used weekly since july, wash really well and mostly don;t cause him to trash either the box or himself!
I have a set of rhinegold ones and tbh I normally buy named products but these seem to be great, had them for several years, either they are good or its because my horse is a good traveller!!
I don't use them as a rule, not on the littlies, but I'd got for gamgee and bandages (properly fitted) over boots anyday. No horse has the same shape legs as another, and I've seen lots of boots slip.
saying that... the saxon ones do seem rather nice, and i'd be tempted to 'try' them if only I could get them small enough..
I use Premier Equine stable wraps with over reach boots on front as well. Fit nice and close to the leg like bandages & gamgee (but without the faff- 4 nice velcro straps, including one round the fetlock!) and liners can come off to wash when minging.
Also have second set of liners I've sewn pockets into for ice cube bags to go in after XC and they double up as cool boots!
I have one pair of premier equines, lovely fleecy inner and really flexible and a pair of rhinegold travel boots for Beanie. (use the rhinegolds when its really warm)
I use bandages, would never use boots again after the grey in my sigi when i got her jumped the brestbar and cut her head open about 7 inches long and under her legs. now shes fine with boxing after months of going in and out when i first got her and wouldnt use anything else.
