Hi
I'd just like some of your input, I have a gorgeous looking gorgeous moving very very dark bay/black mare that i want to put in foal next year.
She is 16hh and is out of a stallion called Donnersmark out of Donnerhall, she also has Rubenstein within the 1st 4 generations. Im finding it very hard to find a stallion to put her to as it seems nearly everything has these 2 stallions within the 1st 4 generations and i sure dont want a 5 legged foal!!
My mare isnt 'hot' so to speak but she is a clever thing...so something with a cooling influence is of utmost importance to me.
Who is there out there that will complement my mare's superb breeding?
Thanks for any info!

I know it's awful to say but, if you look back in history you will find that every horse is inbred..

Especially with these two blood lines, as Rosenkavalier was very popular and even more so when Rubienstien appeared.

Have you looked at londonderry or demagio?

Hi Lou,
Is Londonderry the liver chesnut one with TB breeding also? Ive bred a dimaggio out of her half sister (same dam) and she is FAB, but think she is quite sharp.
Does anyone know anything about San Amour or Sandreo
Keep them coming peeps

Yes londonderry is stunning. Have to admit never had any hassle with dimaggio's there amazing movers and beutiful temeraments...

Dont go for a demonstrator.. Demmy himself was a lovely natured stallion but his young are temeramental.

Not sure about the bottom two.

Hi
sorry can't advise on the stallion choice but interested to find a relation of my boy - he is also by Donnersmark. Very dark bay, moves beautifully and so laid back he's horizontal. Do you have any pics/video of your mare, I'd love to see?

I did quite a bit of research on Donnersmark particulalry his mare line which is better than the stallion line and that's impressive. I also keep in touch with his owners/riders in the USA. Glad I have found another Donnersmark offspring - are there anymore?

Speak to Darren at Court farm stud in Herefordshire. He has a lovely Sandro Hit/Master stallion there. Don't think it has Rubenstein or Donnerhall bloodlines, he is a swedish warmblood. saw him at the stallion parade at Moulton college very impressive!

Ive got 2!! How lucky am i !!
I know the lady who sold Godfrey (Donnersmark) to Colorado, shes based in Chester.
Ive got a gelding who is chesnut with 4 white socks and a white stripe - he is about 17.1hh and is totally horizontal haha Absolutely fab mover! Send me your email address and i'll see what i can send you.
My mare has only just been backed but shes gorgeous, we're going to be doing a vid of her soon so i'll defo send it to you, whilst we at it will do one of the chesnut too to send you.
Where did you buy your donnersmark baby from?
Thank you to everyone for your ideas, still would like to know if anyone knows anything about San Amour or Sandreo.

If your mare is quite bright/hot, I would be wary about using DiMaggio. Have sat on a few by him, and all have been quite firey and quirky!
Rubinero has to be one of my favourite stallions and a friend of mine has a bred a yearling by Sunny Boy out of her GP mare, and she is very very smart!

Hi yes will pm you my email address. He is now winning PSG with Jan Ebeling and schools piaffe etc easily.

I did talk to Donnersmark's breeder in Germany, to discuss the mare line (Waldhexe line). It's mighty impressive - right back Walide won elite oldenburg mare show 1978 - her daughter Walzertraum won elite show in 1985 - her daughter Walzerschritt finished top 15 - her daughter Walzer Rubina didn't compete but has son Donnersmark and daughter Walzertanz (Donnersmark full sister) who finished 7th in Rastede Elite mare show in 2003 Link here http://www.horsesdaily.com/news/breeding/2003/rastede2.html
and link to her vid Kat Nr 42

All these bred by one man Mr Droge Otten, wow!!

We have used Sandreo in the past. His offspring have a lot of blood and are VERY elegant - long legs, attractive head, long, well formed neck. They are nice movers with good suppleness, though if you are looking for power from behind, I think there are better stallions out there. He would be absolutely ideal for refining a more substantial mare who really bends her joints and steps under herself.

I have a San Amour colt and would def use him again, see some pics on my website of him, i also recommend Don Ricoss (has got Donnerhall in his lines but for me not a problem to line breed have on my San Amour colt)
