Which feed-Gastric Ulcers

Aloe Vera Gel (liquid supplement to add to the feed) is great for promoting digestive health, and also is a general tonic to promote wellbeing. Could be worth a try. But do choose a supplement which uses naturally grown and stabilised Aloe Vera, for better quality.

I have just started using the Pure Feeds Company balancer. They do other feeds as well. My mare was in need of condition and has grade 2 ulcers and looks great on it in just 3 weeks!

Hi what is a good feed for a horse with ulcers but needing condition. Is Cal & Condition any good?

Yes, that is what I feed my horse who has a history of EGU. Make sure you soak it well first. Try to keep the feeds fibre based as opposed to cereal mix based which are usually high in carbohydrates and sugars etc. Feed brewers yeast which will help with proper digestion of fibre.

Anything that takes a long time to chew. So not a Topspec type.

Equilibrium Growth is very good.

Do you know that he has ulcers, or are you assuming? If you've got confirmed ulcers then are you getting them treated?

Start with as much good hay as he can eat &, if you've got it, good grass. If you need more then high fibre & low starch is key so something like Alfa Oil is good, and you can add linseed meal for extra calories (which has the advantage of being high mucilage that soothes the stomach). To that I'd add a balancer because if the digestion is impaired they may not get enough vits & mins from their feed.
