Horse is going away for schooling shortly, and I want to send some feed with her, as she's awkward to feed! Won't eat balancer, and won't eat fibre feeds. Fairly good doer, but if not fed something with enough protein etc in looses topline.

So I've narrowed it down to three, plus a couple of additions!

Will be going with her baileys outshine to help keep a nice shiney cost. Also likely to be sent with a sack of GWF conditioning pellet thingys (can't remember name!) so if she needs more than what is in the "base" feed, she can be topped up.

So the main feeds:
Allan and page quiet cubes. Low energy (8.5 de), which is good, as I don't want horse pumped full of energy and turning into a loon. Protein content of 10%, which is in the range that I want. Starch content of 20% which is a lot higher than ideal. £££ nice and cheap. Would need circa 2kg a day for low level work.

Dodson and horrel equine sensitive. Has been on this before (not at the full feeding rate) but did well on it, BUT if to be fed at the required levels, she would require 1.5kg per day, but the protein is only 9.5%, which I know is slightly less than ideal for her. Starch content is better at 14%. £££ not as chesp as a&p cubes ! De content of 10.5, which is a bit higher than I'd like.

Dodson and horrell competion concentrate/a&p power and performance. Both have low feeding rates, with higher protein contents 15/16%, DE contents of circa 12. A&p has starch content of 20%, which is higher than I'd like. However with this feed, I probably wouldn't have to supply the GWF feed as well.

Any thoughts!
