I'm using ComfyBed Plus, which is great (I think it's similar to Lay-Soft and Easibed). It's a mix of small shavings and woodchip. Big advantage is that the bed stays compact and doesn't move about or scatter. Also, the bags are 24kgs, so you get plenty of bedding for your money! :)

I've been using it for a month and my horse is in from 4pm to 8.30am at this time of year and it's looking good. I top up with one bag every 5-6 days.

I currently do a thorough muck out every two days and the day in between, I skip out and tidy. I'm quite fastidious about having a clean looking bed, so prefer to get almost every bit of poo out, this means quite a lot of picking bits out with rubber gloves. At the moment I'm using a fynalite multi-mucker, but I think really the tines are probably slightly too wide to pick up an smaller pieces of debris.

It would be useful to know what tools others are using with this type of 'mix' bedding. Any recommendations?

I don't have that combination, but I muck out both straw and shavings beds and wouldn't be without my Swedish Fork :D

Gosh that looks impressive, is it light?

I use Softchip which has shavings in and use this sort of fork http://www.strawpelletsltd.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=89

I dont like ones with a horizontal bar too low on the tines like this, I find them really hard to use http://www.sydneyfree.co.uk/plastic-shavings-fork.ir

I recently took a punt on one of these which is really intended for wood pellets and found it terrible for the chip/shavings mix but it is easy to wield and I would imagine very good on pellet bedding http://www.yourhorse.co.uk/Gear-rev...rks-rakes-and-shovels/Aquamax-Fine-Tine-Fork/

WelshD - brilliant you've tried a few. V intersting about not having the horizontal bar too low. So, do you find the first one is capable of sifting out the smaller bits of poo?

I'm not a perfectionist but I do like a decently clean bed and it works to my satisfaction. the thing I would like is more of a basket shape so bits of poo dont fly off the sides when the fork is shaken

Ok. Maybe ill look for one that's got slightly higher sides, but not a low horizontal bar Thank you
