Which gloves do you wear?

Got all my kit ready for tomorrow, in the toss up between battling with slippy reins and strong horse (forecast is constant sleet!), and freezing my fingers off I have gone for my thin summer ones, because my warmer ones just do not have the grip. I hope my fingers don't drop off, but I am relying on the fact that I am a very warm person normally and my extremities don't usually suffer, although I am a smoker!

However it did make me decide to invest in some decent winter gloves. Which are best? I want warmth, but most of all, grip! Any recommendations? Thanks :)

try silk liners under grippy gloves - ££ but well worth it :)

I use normal woolly pimply ones - and keep a spare pair under my saddle flap for when/if they get soaked :)

I also have proper pimply rubber reins which stick to rubber bits on my gloves - tried hunting in my eventa reins - very bad idea!!

I use macwets, the climatec ones. They are really good and usually warm on my icy cold hands (I do have the warm heart though, honest!! ;))

I dont find that they dry as well as claimed unless they are on the radiator. They are generally good for gripping on half lined or full rubber reins. :)

i use £2.50 white wool gardening gloves with the little bobbles on the palm side. they are really warm and stay water proof for quite a while and its not end of world if you rip them on barbed wire!

I don't wear them unless i'm hunting, dont like them, but would end up bleeding without them hunting. I dont know much about brands but reckon they are worth forking out a bit extra on for good quality ones, if my sister is anything to go by. She refuses to spend much on a pair, buys the cheap ones and goes through a pair every few weeks. Sometimes, i wonder about her logic!

I participated in an experiment hacking on Tuesday. It was freezing and I was out for three hours, so decided to test my ultra grippy gloves out for warmth.

I have bought the Roeckl XC gloves (also referred to as "spiderman gloves") upon recommendation from the hunt. Combined with rubber reins I feel I might not be able to slip the reins if P snatches....could be a Thelwell moment in the making!

With disposable rubber gloves on underneath, they were surprisingly warm.

I have some Ladies Sealskinz too. Very warm but no grip at all once the reins were wet.

i didn't find i had much grip with the Macwets when the reins are wet, but then haven't found anything that does great in the wet, despite rubber reins. currently using Ariat ones, but bought some spiderman gloves at Olympia so gonna try them out next!

I wear Roeckl Chester gloves - I find them fairly warm and I usually have cold hands. I hate wearing gloves though. My girly isn't strong though, so I don't know how grippy they are, but they don't get worse in the wet.
