Have decided to put my boy on a hoof supplement as his feet do not seem to be growing very fast (can see 2 or 3 sets of old nail holes below where his shoe is.)
He is currently being fed on top spec lite(he's a bit of a fatty) with a bit of fast fibre as he likes the slop.
So plan is to cut out the balancer and add a hoof supplement to the fast fibre.
Was thinking either;
Farriers formula which is by far the most expensive for him but if it will help I dont mind.
Formula 4 feet - he's been on this before for about 6 months and didn't see much difference.
NAF pro feet powder.
Cant decide which would be the best and most cost effective in the long run.
Any help much appreciated

I use Cornecruscine, which is, apparently, exactly the same as Farrier's Formula but much cheaper. It works works well for my lad. Horse First also do one, which is supposed to be good but will be very expensive, all their supplements are. But obviously none of them work immediately, they all take a while to see results, at least 6 months so my farrier tells me.

Iv never had to use a hoof supplement on any off the horses in the yard in 20 yrs. We did however put all the horses at one point on topspec balancers and after a year had to put them back on their old diets as their feet had never been so bad. Was not happy. All the horses just have general purpose supplement all year round ( NAF) added to their feed and all the feet are back to normal and nice and strong.
I may be wrong in saying this but my view is " farriers formula" and such like is just a form off balancer really and a expensive way off adding goodness to a diet, there's far cheaper ways.

I feed my horses Happy Hoof, cant remember who its made by but will be on google, designed for laminitics but it is excellent for hoofs, especially good for fattys and is an all in one feed! My horse unfortunately needed a bit more weight on her so i had to stop using this for a while but when i did her feet were an absolute mess, kept cracking and she was really sore, even with shoes on. I now feed safe and sound, conditioning nuts and some watered down molasses to keep her happy :D
