I've had my mare on Oestress and it did seem to calm her a little, she is a very flirty mare. You might have some trouble getting the horses to eat it though, it smells like curry powder. I don't feed it anymore as I was feeding so many supplements. I didn't notice that much when I took her off it.
The thing that I've found to help her most is calmag, its made her calm, so calm shes almost lazy now. And her marish behaviour is much more controllable.
But its different for every horse. You might have to try a few like Oestress and other hormone things and see what works for you.

My friend uses Oestress on her old Anglo Arab mare. On it she's grumpy in the stable and will squeal and kick at her friend next door if she is also in season, and is a bit tetchy, but without the Oestress she is a total nightmare. She wees absolutely everywhere, flirts with anything with a heartbeat, bites, kicks, squeals and is generally uncomfortable. Although it doesn't solve her problems, it definately really helps. We are sure it works too as her owner once forgot to buy her more of the stuff and she came into season and was horrible, then we put her back on it and she was right as rain within a week!

I use Hormonise for my gelding. Does help to keep him in line and prevent him 'playing stallions'.

I've heard its equally effective with mares (which I expect are the majority who use it).

My girl wont touch most supplements in her feed oestress, moody mare, stroppy mare etc i have just started her on some chinese herbs in cookie form(can't remember the name). She will eat these from my hand thinking she is getting a treat! too early to say whether they are making a difference yet though

We did go all out and get Nupafeed. V expensive and didn't notice any difference what so ever so stopped it and will save what we have left to start again in the summer. In the meantime we've switched to and are still trying oestress. Second tub - about 13 weeks. It definately made a difference to begin with - maybe as spring is approaching we're not giving her enough? She is nasty to her next door neighbour and gets stage fright when competing in dressage (please see my question about which calmer to use and respond if you have tried anything which really works!).
If you try Oestress, load the dose to begin with to get it in the system, failing that the vet can insert something which is little like a coil? Worth the expense if you compete and its becoming an issue with other horses.

I believe a lot of the hormone supplements, certainly Hormonise, are largely made up of Agnus Castus which you can buy much cheaper on its own from people like Hilton Herbs etc.
