Ok I have a choice! On sunday as long as not raining heavily I will take Fleur for her first HT. I have two options taking note she has not XC schooled this year.

I can go either to Winkleigh which is closer but I have personally never been to before OR I can go to Stockland Lovell which I have seen parts of and Fleur has jumped about the first 6 pre-novice fences

So opinions please, prefer flowing course as it our first HT together. I know the ground is perfect at both so it really just comes down to the course. I will be going for a nice sensible 2ft6 class as well!

Thankies in advance

I was going to post asking about hunter trials this weekend! Saw there are quite a few on so confused myself. I decided on Stockland Lovell. Not sure if the course will be flowing (sorry..I'm not much help!) but I remembered they have a lot of nice jumps and a nice course there.

Yep i'm actually about 20-25mins north Of Exeter which is what makes it closer

and am right on M5 so just 5 mins to M5 then up then its about 20-25mins. It takes me 30mins on motorway each morning in car (as work in brigwater) so I reckon 45 mins in lorry especially as have to go one junction less

My only concern about SL is that will be full! will probably walk both saturday and give a ring to entries person to see whether they will be accepting entries on day still as don't wish to make journey to get turned away!

i have been to winkleigh today xc schooling a bit wet in places but gnerally ok i love there course thro but i adore stockalnd lovell too when i went to there ht last it was a blast they put loads of bigger fences in which i really like

We took Chocx for a play today round Winkleigh, it's very easy to get to, just turn after North Tawton and follow the signs.
It's over lots of fields, has everything from tiny baby fences to Novice, not terribly hilly and the ground today was reasonable. we didn't use studs and he didn't slip at all.
If you email me at sue@narramorefarm.com I'll send you the pics I took today of the water complex.
SL is further to go and probably more sort of upmarket type course, but Winkleigh is very good for starting babies off at.

Sounds good to me then, would definetly prefer Winkleigh distance wise and at least one other from yard is going which means an extra friendly face. Don't mind it being 'down market' in comparison to SL I just want a nice course not too testing to get her round, the fences are not going to be the issue its going to be the getting her away from the start and other horses

Emailing you as well

I would say Winkleigh too - it's a nice course, especially for beginners and of course you don't have to travel too far.

They have all the fences on their website. think it's
www.southcottxc.co.uk or something very similar to that.
