As title really, bought an ex race horse i'm going to re-school and looking for the best insurance company? He probably wont be leaving the yard for a year i.e to compete ect, so which would you recommend ?

Thanks!

South Essex Insurance Brokers. Brilliant company to deal with!
Used to be with NFU but they were a pain in the arse (apparantly my very lame horse with a degnerative joint condition in both front legs still had reasonable quality of life so no payout on being PTS), never again.

ETS: if you're just looking for third party, join world horse welfare for £50 for the year and any horse under your care is insured.

Hi,
I insure mine with petplan, they seemed about as cheap as anyone and provide good cover. I have heard not to go with E & L though as they are not good at paying out.

Hi

I have mine through Stoneways. The insurer is Allianz who are also behind the petplan brand. I found the stoneways quote cheaper than petplan though :D

Avoid E&L if you ever want a claim paid without hassle!!

I can only emphasise the calls to avoid E&L. We were with them in the late 80s and it took us almost two years and the intervention of the Insurance Ombudsman to receive payment for a claim. Never again, don't care how long ago it was.

Not sure who we use now, Mrs JM handles all that.
