OK guys - which company do you insure your poochies with?

I have looked at PetPlan - which looks very reasonable.. also looked at RSPCA which was extortionate!!!

Let me know!!

Have my pup insured with KC for £18 a month & thinking of changing to M&S for same amount of money with no excess!!!! So can even claim for worming tablets!!!!
Older dog which is the one that I had in vets this morning is not insured Typical!!!!

My lab is insured with Direct Line, £12 a month, £6000 vets cover per claim with unlimited time (ie life cover).

Mine neither! OK, you discover that is a mistake after a £2,600 vets bill for one dog, so now I save £25 per month for 2 dogs towards vets costs. Unfortunately I am negative quite a lot at the moment as I had to buy an indoor kennel and they had their booster vaccinations

For the first year I was with Sainsburys but when it came to my renewal they had put it up.I am now with More Than. You will often find you will get a discount if you have other insurance with the same company.Make sure you get umllimited cover for illness and not just for 12 months.Hope that helps.

Petplan for both my girls.

I like them because they insure conditions 'for life' as opposed to excluding them from the following year's policy as many other insurers do.

Definate bonus IMO. I've also had to make 1 claim when my dog ripped a hole in her side (ouch) and found the process very smooth and easy

I had one of mine with Tescos and to be honest they were brilliant when I had to claim for an serious injury however with my older dog - he has reached 9 and his premium has doubled this year and they don't really want to insure him any more well he has never had a claim, he is a lurcher - crossbreed so likely to live longer.. I have a 4 month old puppy and wanted to insure her as well but would be simpler to insure with one company. I tried NFu and Petplan - they wouldn't insure a dog over 8 - I tried Sainsburys and the policy looks good, saved about £100 a year by moving and have insured the puppy with them as well.

With 8 dogs we simply could not afford to use insurance companies - also many of them won't insure elderly dogs or else the premiums are sky high

- we put £150 per month into a savings account which covers all vets fees plus hip/eye scoring, vaccinations, show entries and other 'doggy' expenses -it also earns us interest - something an insurance company would never do

- so far ( touch wood ) we have always had plenty in there for anything that has cropped up ...but I'm lucky to have a relatively healthy breed

Pet plan with the last.Aunt also has both Danes with them.
Its not as stright forward with the Danes(some exclusions based on breed and vets fee's are limited after 6 years old) but have never had a problem with them paying out and they are very fast to sort out a claim. Will happily go back to them for next dog.

I have my jack russell insured with animal care its £12 a month' excess is £40. Used them for my old dog always paid up fine with his illnesses.

All mine have been with Direct Line... and I've had to claim a lot. First dog got sick and ended up in vet hospital, but sadly died. They paid out no problems. Then my new puppy broke his leg and needed external fixaters, again they paid out no probs and finally my other dog got bladder stones and again they paid out with any quibbles. All that in the last two years! Plus they are cheaper than Pet Plan but with the same quality of cover.
