I am with Petplan and they have paid about £6,000 of claims for vet's fees for me in the last year so I would be happy to recommend them. I have friends with NFU who have also had large claims and no problems.
My vets won't accept payment from E&L as they can't get their money off them - any clients with E&L have to pay their vets bills directly and pursue their own claims.
Amtrust for me all the way......I have 4 different claims running with them ( horse is a walking disaster area at the moment!) and they always pay out promptly ( within 10 days) and direct into my bank account. Far more efficient than the other 2 major companies I used to use
I am with Petplan and we have always been with them for our dogs and horses. They seem to pay out quickly and are always very helpful on the phone and quick to sort out any problems
Thanks for all the votes/replies so far - keep them coming!
Looked online and if I went with Petplan then I'd be saving £40 per month on the NFU quote for identical cover. Last claim it took 3 months to get my money from NFU and I ended up having to pay some of the claim in advance as vets were getting antsy. Really just want someone who will pay out within a month really.
I'm with Pet Plan and when my boy had his big accident as a youngster the first bill for the hospitalisation and surgery was over £10K.
I phoned them when I got the bill and they paid the vets direct for me BEFORE they had had all the paperwork from me. I just paid them the excess back.
Been very impressed with the service, and as a result I am still with them.
KBIS paid my vet claim virtually by return of post. Never a quibble, very easy (and knowledgeable) to talk to, been with them years and wouldn't change. Vets like dealing with them too as they're so straightforward.
Have been with SEIB for some years now and very impressed with them. They pay out promptly, appear to actually read any info you send them, and even paid out when my old horse was PTS and in all the emotion I forgot she was insured.
I was recommened scottish equestrian and nfu when I was looking.
On personal experience I would say nfu arent as good I was told. I had major problems when I tried to claim and in the end they never paid out. I'm still paying off the £2000 that horse cost me.
My friend is with scottish equestrian and they paid out without any issue. So I have taken out insurance with them for my current horse. Not claimed yet but may have to depends on what vet tells me tomorrow. Lets hope its good news if I have to claim. Cant afford any hassle from these ones aswell.
Petplan paid out within a week of both my claims. I only switched to them because my vet said he wouldnt treat the horse unless I paid the bill directly as I was previously insured with E&L and they havent been paid for a claim from them yet and thank god I did!
