My 4yr old seems to like a straightbar non metal bit, and is currently in a happymouth straightbar loosering. It is a bit big for her though so will need to get her a smaller one. Before I do, wondered if I should get her the nathe or sprenger verson? Are they better/kinder/longer lasting?

Which would you recomend?

Thanks

The material of a nathe is lovely - totally different to a happy mouth. The material is soft, completely flexible and with a warmer feeling that the more plasticky types

I haven't seen a sprenger so I cannot compare, but think they may be similar.

Nathe over happy mouth every time, sprenger are very similar to nathe, but from my experience harder to get hold of!
Equiport do a HUGE range of nathe bits.

I've got both Nathe & Sprenger Duo (I assume this is the Sprenger you mean?). Both very similar. Think my boy goes slightly better in the Duo but not much in it.
The duo is a bit harder to get hold of - mine came from Germany.

Have never tried the 'Happy mouth' and wouldn't bother!

I have the nathe and the sprenger duo. I prefer the duo as it allows a little more tongue room. That said, both are much better than happy mouth! FWIW my young horse ate his happy mouth and his never touched the duo or nathe - so for me, yes, they last longer!
