Which is the best and worst company for trailer rescue

I will be going on the road with my trailer soon and need to have some sort of trailer rescue cover. I'm a little unsure who to go with as I remember seeing a few horror stories on here in the recent past but cannot remember the details of the companies which were featured (pm me the details if you wish)

I have a breakdown cover with the AA and I'm aware that trailers are not covered with the car breakdown, but I understand that they do a seperate one with another company, would be interested to hear from anyone who has experience with them regarding horsebox/trailer rescue.

I may also need a stand alone policy ... so who's the best
 
Well not sure if they cover trailers as well, but the worst company I used for my horsebox was Anthony Evans who left me for four hours on the motorway. I'm now with Equine Rescue who offer a much better service.
 
Never had to use it so can't comment if they're any good but I have an add on to my AA cover from the horsebox & trailer owners association or something like that. Costs about £40 extra each year.
 
I'm with Equine Rescue Service too, *knock wood* haven't used them yet but I hope they're good. They're certainly very reasonably priced. I understand the RAC do offer a trailer breakdown service directly, but don't know anyone who has used it, I think I'm the only person I know with breakdown cover for trailer, it is because I am very paranoid, I almost didn't post this because I feel I am tempting fate!
 
Absolutely equine rescue services - have had to use them unfortunately and they are fantastic, definitely recommend them, they are so accommodating and quick. Hope you don't have to use them though!
 
I have trailer and horse recovery through the RAC, its called RAC Assist and costs £45 per year. Not used it as yet thankfully, hubby works for the RAC as a Patrol so I have every faith in this service.
 
i work in the rescue and recovery business have done for years the best companies are the ones who specialise in horses and make sure you get onward travel for horse as this not always covered in your policy the rac are the only large breakdown company i would use but you have to pay more to cover the horse but they have always been very good with the customer equine rescue is another good company NEVER the AA absolutley crap
 
Equine Rescue Services all the way! Would not use anyone else!

They will ensure you are ok-get police or HA vehicle to sit behind you if you are in a dangerous place

They will look after you and as you and your horse come first they will ensure all runs smoothly!

They have a dedicated 24/7 control room and keep in touch with you the whole time.

Their co-ordination for vehicle recovery and horse recovery (always sending out fresh horse transport to you) and getting you home or to your chosen address!

I travel around the country a lot and wouldn't be without "Equine Resue Services" I've used them on several occasions from a simple tyre blow out to one of my ponies getting colic in transit on the motorway! ERS had a local vet to me within half an hour, and that was at 9:30pm as well, !! What amazing service.

Yes - think the info should be on the website link I had in my last post. I think costs an extra £49.

Have no other experience of other types of breakdown but now I've got a horsebox I use NFU as I insure the horsebox with them and their breakdown service was highly recommended to me by various friends with horseboxes who have used them multiple times.

I always think it is best to get personal recommendation from people in your locality.

The other thing I use to have in the 4x4 in case I needed it, was a wedge jack. Never had to use it on my own trailer but gave me peace of mind as with it, it is a lot easier and safer to change a tyre when horses on board.

I used to be with Equine Rescue Services when I was travelling further afield to event, but haven't used them for a couple of years as only done local trips and can get rescued easily there by friends etc.

Equine rescue used to be linked to the RAC, who I use for car breakdown, but RAC ditched them and started directing all their customers to another company that they linked with. I thought that their marketing seemed too strong and that they were being a bit naughty towards ERS, so because of that I would not use the RAC equine rescue! I prefer honesty!
