Am looking at getting a heavy turnout, have always had Horseware or fal. But an considering a premier equine this time. The price of Rambo's and fal have rocketed since I last had to purchase one, baring in mind my fals and Rambo's are onto their umpteenth year! One Rambo stable rug is still going after 20 years!!!! God now I'm showing my age!!!

PE have a sale on currently, I have always had Rambo's but the are slowly being replaced with PE as and when needed. Rambo's don't seem to last like they did.

I love my Bucas rugs. They are so toasty warm and have fleecy linings inside which make me feel less bad about putting them on when my horse is a bit wet. The other half has his in Premier Equine which I like because of the long neck which is a bit elasticated at the top so stays put around the ear area. If PE had fleecy linings or Bucas had the PE necks then I would be in horse rug heaven!

Another PE fan. My thug trashed a Rambo duo in 6 weeks. He nearly didn't get another rug after that!

I found the Rambo neck covers too restrictive, and my boy is only a skinny 16hher.

I bought a PE 450gm, it got me through -20 & -25c winters & my wussy wb was happy in it. Nice generous necks & love the elastic at the top of he neck.

OMG I own a wuss... and he is a cob!! He stood there in his 450g PE last night shivering! oh god i'm turning in to a bunny :p

I really like the Premier Equine rugs, they're fab! My mare has them in 3 different weights (...and a fleece :o) and they fit her so well. She rubs very easily but they never rub her, the necks are brilliant (keep the draughts out & don't sneak back like some do), are seriously waterproof - and the most important thing for me, they don't move! She's the type to chase around the field all day, she loves to roll, she never stands still and I used to forever worry about her rugs slipping - but the PE ones stay where you put them and don't move, whatever she does. The PE team are lovely and their customer service is fab too.
I also really like the Amigo rugs, one of our other horses is kitted out in those and I used to buy them for my gelding. They last forever & fit really nicely.

PE for my horses that are deep through the girth as they are cut much deeper so don't look like a mini skirt on them. Bucas Pwer for my narrow horse and Rambo Duo with PE neck covers for the others.

LOVE my horseware!! Have both a welshie and a heavy horse and both go great in them better then any other brands! So I will not ever look at anything else. :D

I love PE too, also Amigo rugs seem to sit comfortably on my oddly shaped horse... I usually find rugs slip and bunch up on him, but Amigo and PE ones sit just right!

Personally I am disappointed with the Bucas rugs, at first i thought they were fabulous and bought 3 heavy weights for my horses. However the rugs are incredibly heavy when wet, they are always slipping and don't keep my horses warm like they claim, they also create static so my horses coats were looking terrible and dull. Have gone back to Fal Pro and recently bought their viking rug for my event horse who is fully clipped and living out, he was toasty at -1 degres with no layering, very impressed! It is also very light weight and he hasn't destroyed it yet either - bonus!

Anyhting without a big price tag! Why pay for a name. Founed PE last year and very impressed by them, and would definately buy again, although they are starting to get expensive too.

Glad to see so many +ve for PE. I bought the 350x recently, and really pleased with it. It was in the sale, but think that's finished now. My only issue is that maybe I should have bought the outer and various weight liners? We put a thin stable rug under the 350 for the coldest nights of the snowy weather, but it started to rub a little. With just the PE there's the benefit of a super shiny clean boy underneath. Oh, and getting used to the shower-cap effect of the PE neck cover;)

The amigo rugs fitted my old TB well, however there completely the wrong shape for my cob!! plus i don't think they are very hard-wearing.
I got a pre-loved rug off ebay for the cob and its on its 2nd winter, fits her like a glove very waterproof and warm and she hasnt trashed it :D
\i can't think of the name but begins with K something like kings or knights

Horseware all the way for my little mare :) they're the only rugs that fit her properly!! All others go past her knees :p had to do the first patch up job on an amigo last night after 3 years so that's not bad really considering it only cost about £30 :)

Recently bought a Horseware rug for the first time and really not that impressed with it. I will be sticking with Shires and Bridleway from now on! :)

I have a rambo duo on one horse and PE trio on the other. The Rambo has lasted 6 years and still looks good. Downside is that the neck is thin and too short. The PE has lots of bits hanging off it - after 2 years - it hasn't worn as well BUT the other horse does tend to chew it... so may not be the rug's fault. The PE is heavy when wet, but I think probably warmer.

If buying again? - I'd probably buy another Trio. Or some of the parts of it. Rambos are now too expensive.

Rambos, pony has expensive tastes as these are the only ones that fit and seem to be durable. He has the turnouts but they double up as stable rugs too.

He has the wugs in all weights I like the fit and the new ones also have quick release belly straps which are meant to be like the field safe head collars and give if a leg gets stuck. The v necks seem to stop the rugs rubbing and putting presure on his withers. They are quite light as well and he is always dry underneath even if out in heavy rain.

As the belly straps can be removed and easily replaced I was also able to get the small size belly straps, pony is long and takes a 6ft rug but has short legs and the belly straps are normally too long for him, I explained situation to horsewear and they kindly sent me two sets of belly straps in a short size.

Not willing to pay £100+ for a rug.

Cannot recommend Axiom rugs enough, esp for deep or wide horses. Very high denier (1800D), very waterproof, warm but not heavy in weight, fixtures and fittings are solid and last. Very impressed. I own 6 and haven't paid over £50 for any of them.

Equestrian Clearance have some good deals on rugs. I've dealt with them and they have been very reliable.

i love horseware, very waterproof and warm, though i also like the look of PE rugs my friend had one and it was lush, covered her pony really well all the way up to her ears and looked really warm, i am going to invest in one for next winter.
