Best facilities, great staff, fab location, nicest clients ??

Which is the best livery yard and why ? Can be anywhere in the UK.

_Claire_ 's is on my list.

I was just thinking that next time I move it would be easier to find somewhere great for the horse first and then just get a crash pad for myself nearby!

Mine!! Just my 3 and a friends horse. 20x40 allweather flloolit school. soon to be extended and resurfaced. Fantastic hacking and loads of comps fairly close. Dead cheap cos it's mine and I can do what I want when I want. No falling out "cos it's just me and my friend. Gorgeous countryside and stunning views. Yeah reckon I lurrrve my yard. Am I cheating!!!

Sommerford Park's probably the smartest one in Cheshire with the best facilities. You couldn't pay me to move there from my smaller yard though. Nice accommodating YM, lovely other liveries and atmosphere, decent outdoor school, good hacking and safe turnout, all for a sensible price. There's hardly any rules and no problems either. All the important things IMO.

Nicest full livery i know. Lovely yard.

Nicest DIY has to be where ted is... all year round turn out, american barn stabling with plenty of boxes for isolation else where, calm and relaxed atmosphere, amazing fews ad NO BITCHING!

nice bit arena and everyone does job share so noone gets winter sickness too early...

Your sister's yard looks so well run. I love her black pony though doubt anyone would be fooled by it appearing twice as different names

It is to me the perfect build of a school pony, strong, kind eye etc.
I don't think I've ever seen a tidier yard either!

I'm biased but I love the yard I'm at at the moment

I can't remember the person's name

but whoever has just opened a yard in Warwickshire lately - their yard looks fab, very posh and lovely

Perhaps I'm biased but I think the yard my sister runs at home is probably about as nice as you'll find for a small (17 box) family run full livery business.

Seriously though J you need to update that website, especially now we have the swish new hay soaker and farrier area/storage area! Plus all the name plates everywhere and stuff that is organised! If it was indeed a good yard before, it has only improved in the last month or two. New head girl is also fab. I ran a survey on the customers of the yard (liveries and RS clients) recently for the marketing module of my degree, and 100% of people were happy or very happy with the level of service.
Then again, it depends on what you're after in a yard. Not a whole lot of people get on with the way in which the yard I usually keep my horses is run, but I love it there and would never move (unless I was forced to, say by a horse having to be retired to the field

) as it's quite competitive and it's very supportive and everyone is full of advice (when you can learn to take the good with the bad). Then there is the yard I have just moved to, which is at the complete opposite to my "usual" yard, it's so laid back and friendly and easy-going. Then there are places like Boss's sister's yard which are different again, probably mostly because we only offer part and full livery so we are responsible for running everything, which changes they way things are done.
So really it depends on where you and your horse fit in. But if you're after part or full livery in the Wiltshire area, lots of people will recommend Boss's sister's yard!

I would have to say my own livery yard of course!! I seem to be very lucky in that my yard remains a quiet, laid back and friendly atmosphere, so far!!

I also have stunning views and access to miles of amazing off road riding. The best bit is that my yard is nestled below one of the Wiltshire White horses which is very fitting.

Oh thank you! That means so much to me

I hope I run a yard everyone enjoys being at, everyone seems happy so far..............only been one week though

lol.

I'm sure there are plenty of yards smarter and with better facilities than mine but I'm extremely happy with what I've got

The yard I've been on for the last 2 and a bit years is certainly the best I've ever been on. They have large stables (12 x 14) good grazing all year round, with mares and geldings seperate, small yard with only 10 stables, all other liveries are friendly, huge outdoor and an indoor, YOs are real animal lovers and treat all horses like their own, plenty of storage space, don't charge for parking lorries/trailers, do a late night check and you get what you pay for plus the hacking is OK
smile.gif
Guess what - yard is full

I love my friends yard where I keep my mare as it has everything I need and is private. I used to be on a yard that had everything but it just wasn't somehow, quite as nice!

Short Cross Stables, Castle Upon Alun, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales.

My sisters yard, friendly and very well equipped with breathtaking hacking close to the beach! Instructors to give lessons on own horse, 2 cross country courses, 2 sand schools, round pen, Jumping paddock. Well staffed by professional people. Regular events on the yard. Offers full part and DIY and can tailor a package to suit owners individual requirements.

If I did not have my own yard out in Norway I would have my two there

The yard I am on is the best I have ever known.
It is private, quiet, run brilliantly, safe, excellent facilities and lovely people. The YO is superb - friendly, knowledgable, calm.
It is a gorgeous place to be in this mad world!!!

My yard is great too.

Amazingly it is on the outskirts of London.

It has all year turnout normally 24/7
Understanding knowledgeable YM - My pony is a little tempermental and some yards might not put up with his antics!
Indoor school
2 outdoor schools
Assisted DIY as well as full livery
kind qualified staff
occasionally shows
accessible by public transport
farrier comes every thursday
access to some bridleways and I can walk there from my house!

It has a website but it's a bit out of date.

My sister is partener to Jonny who owns both yards on the farm, so now she runs both herself

She really has brought the standards way up, and she has done a fantastic job, worked her bottom off despite being pregnant, she should be very proud of herself, in fact she is due in the next few weeks!
