Hi I would like peoples views on stable wraps v stable bandages!
I have a 18 year old horse who injured himself at the end of January. So this will be our first winter with our problem! He had a septic navicular bursa and infected the ddft also .having survived this he was left with a suspected hole in his ddft unfortunately after fighting the infection we couldnt afford the MRI so we have no idea how bad the damage is only I did have a very lame boy! Well he is doing fairly well
at the moment and is completely off of the bute and turned out during the
day.but with winter looming I want to be prepared and try and keep his legs as warm as I can through the cold snaps.
Thanks

I use the thermatex leg wraps to dry my girls legs off in the winter if she is washed for a show - love them! I don't like to use stable bandages overnight as my mare would harm herself on anything, so I like to at least restrict her opportunity!
Premier equine also do stable wraps which look really good as they are shaped around the fetlock a little.

Another vote for the thermatex wraps, I have used them for a couple of years now on a pony who is prone to laminitis. Keeping his legs warm through the winter improves the circulation to his feet. When the temperatures fall below -2 I also pack some gamgee or those foam pads (often used with bandages) under the wraps for added warmth.

I'm not sure there's much difference in warmth to bandages but certainly saves a lot of time and easier to put on with freezing hands!
