Hi. I am after a bit of help, if you don't mind. I am hoping to take my youngster hunting for the first time in the next month or so and I am not sure which jacket to wear. I have a tweed jacket which is my preference but I am not sure if this is correct. The other option is a black jacket but it does have a red lining, which I assumed would be a no-no. I am an adult, in case it makes any difference. Thanks.

If you're under 18, Tweed is ideal :)
Technically otherwise the the black jacket in theory is proper, but nobody will mind in the slightest if you turn up in tweed-especially as it's your first time out. If that's your preference, I'd go with the tweed.

Have a great time and let us know how your day went!

I think like person above said black is probably more corret. When I took my boy out for the first time last year I went out in tweed and didn't plait my horse everyone was still very welcoming even the master came over to ask if we had a good day :)

Thanks - I think I will go for tweed. At least I will be warm then. Mine is hogged so no issues with plaiting.

Definately wear the tweed. It is never incorrect to wear tweed and there will be others in tweed.

If you like it and decide to go more often then maybe think about getting a warmer wool hunt coat but tweed will be fine for now.

Have fun!

I believe correct attire is - tweed is for cubbing only and for children in the hunt season. Otherwise black for gents and dark navy or black for ladies.

This said i dont think for a min u would be turned away for wearing tweed. Most hunts are friendly, welcoming and appreciative of the support :)

Have fun :)
