I am sure this question has been asked before but I'll try again. Any recommendations please. I haven't ridden at a show for several years and when I tried my boots on the other day it took 2 strong people to pull me out of my right boot! Must have put on some weight and not helped by there not being a zip. I don't want to spend a fortune as I will not be doing that much competing. I am approaching my big birthday and have promised to make this the year I get out and about with my horse. My husband has been persuaded to buy me a second hand towing vehicle for a present and I already have a trailer and horse so just need the right showing boot now. Any suggetions please.

I absolutely love my Ariat Bromont Insulated boots. Super smart, like slippers from th first day, iv had mine for around 4 yrs, I don't take care of them, jst a quick baby wipe when I'm going somewhere, and they come up like new. I don't wear them to trudge about in muddy fields though, jst to ride. Oh and theyr so cosy, but not hot in summer :)

Well worth th money and u can get a good deal if u shop around.

Ariat bromonts are good if you don't have a short lower leg (they do not do short heights) and they come in different calf widths and insulated ones for winter. I have to buy the Mountain Horse Supreme boots to get ones short enough for me and they are fantastic with really soft leather, but probably too pricey unless you can get them on an offer. The other ones I have heard to be good are Brogini Gallipoli these are about £140 and supposed to be the best on offer for around the £100-150 mark.

I had 2 pairs of regent rough riders I think which where fab. They looks smart and where about the £100 mark. They coped well stomping around the yard too s I never changed them after I rode. I have bromonts now which are sooooo comfy though, but more expensive.

Ariat bromonts, got mine from
Robinsons for about £125 when they were priced at £165, no idea why! Also got a free pair of Ariat boot keep them in place things :P we quickly walked out the shop ...

Why isn't there a great selection of riding/yard/long boots in mens sizes. I'm a size 10, pretty average for a man, don't want to buy what i would call show or formal riding boots just something i can wear to the yard, do whatever i've got to do, then ride. Any boots that fit this requirement are pretty expensive or are only in smaller sizes.

Nostromo, Ariat do lovely men's country boots. They wouldn't be the cheapest but are lovely boots and if they're anything like the female counterpart, the Grasmeres, you really can't go wrong. I got my Grasmeres for £180 and wear them constantly.

I have regents. Look nice and traditional but not the most comfy I'm afraid! I'm not a fan of most of the show boots on offer as I like them traditional looking. Can't stand ones with laces, they should be for men only!

Yep, OH moans about this too, he saw a good pair of insulated winter boots the other day, went to try them on, ladies sizes only..... no reason they were perfectly suitable for a man. Cue grumpy husband

He wears Mountain Horse High Rider II boots for day to day, they are chunky but reasonably smart and comfy. Only thing to watch with them is that your stirrups are wide enough as in men's sizes they are wide. No problem if you have your own horse, you just make sure that you have wide irons but when riding in a riding school DH sometimes found the irons too small to be safe. For best he has a pair of regent show boots, the totally plain ones with no zips or laces and a straight top and garter strap. They look brilliant, and very smart.

Lastly he has a pair of the Ariat Grasmere equivalent for men, the Rydal, he hasn't worn those much because he finds them a bit baggy on the leg (they don't do different calf widths like they do for ladies), so he uses them as a country/shooting boot rather than riding in them.

The ariat bromont comes in mens sizes and looks very smart too, worth a look, OH didn't like them on him, but I lov mine.

I have been looking online for the Ariat Bromont as recommended by several of you but they are coming in way over budget at over £200. I will keep looking. Any more suggetions from riders out there. I do want them just for showing. Thanks

I just bought a pair of gorgeous Hippique boots, secondhand (and hardly worn) for £80, so perhaps look out for any deals on preloved/eBay/Facebook if you are on a budget x
