My horse has quite a large tongue. Recently had the dentist who said he would be most comfortable in a thick bit. I have been advised differently because if he has a thick tongue I thought he would be better in a thinner bit because a thick one would be less effective and also not leave him much room in his mouth. I know either NS or KK do a snaffle bit which is angled for more tongue room but can't remember which one it is. Thank you!

NS do one. I just bought a tongue saver bit from Cotswoldsports which is shaped and quite thin too. I would say go up a size though as the one I bought is too small and Im having to send it back. I think its to do wth the shape of the bit as if measured the sizes are correct

Talk to one of the bit loan companies (just google "bit loan & horse" or similar). They have given me great advice in the past and it is their job to have an understanding of the bits on the market.
