As title. My Appy currently has bald patches at the back where his saddle goes, believed to be from where the edge of his saddle cloth is rubbing him. Have also had another numnah rub his shoulder area too. He's just had his saddle re-fitted so I know it's not this causing it. He is fully clipped and very sensitive skinned. It doesn't seem to be bothering him but I want the hair to grow back. Which numnah does everyone suggest?

Thanks :)

Nuumed ones are great. My sheepskin lined one is still going strong and its several years old. Their sheepskin lined numnahs have skeepskin rolled round the edges so you don't get such an obvious edge as non sheepskin ones.

Mines the same, got rub marks where the edges of his numnah lies! I have switched to half lined sheepskin numnah which seems to be working. He is only a baby so hoping his skin will toughen up in time.

Le mieux sheepskin half lined numnah. They are fairly thick but so soft and my saddle fitter okayed mine with saddle usually used with thin to med thickness pad. Wool lined numnah from nuumed if thicker pad would adversely affect saddle fit, as these are thinner (but not as soft).

Gently numnahs from hkm are made with fleece lining especially for thin skinned horses
No seams and padded with very soft wadding .they are brilliant ive tried sheepskin but it alters The fit of my saddle so needed a thinner one

I recently discovered http://morpheus-designs.com
I had previously used the thicker type sheepskin but they seemed to rub and cause pressure points on my horse. The Morpheus ones do offer the option of the regular longer sheepskin or the shorter lambswool (short wool) lining. Since buying and using the 'short wool' option a few months ago I can honestly say it has been the best thing I have done.
No more sore back or pressure points. The numnah doesn't slip and the quality of the product is second to none. The lambswool is exceptionally soft and well wearing. Plus the cost compared to Mattes is much better as Morpheus is £45 compared to around £100 for Mattes.
It was delivered two days after I ordered it.
I was so happy with the product I ordered two more.
Really happy and highly recommend them.

I generally use a nuumed/lemieux numnah but do sometimes swap to a polypad if this occurs as I think sometimes the nuumed particularly gets a bit of purchase on the hair and breaks it - however if yours is fully clipped I suspect that not the case for yours (I will actually fully clip Frank before he starts moulting/rubbing then increases). For him it is an issue because he is quite short backed so although is saddle is moving with him it does move cos his bum is too big (also had same issue with a short backed big walking arab).

Ester - that's interesting! My boy has a long back but he is croup high and has a big bum too! :o ;) My Saddler has commented before that his saddle will move a bit anyway because of the way he moves.

I don't think a well fitting saddle moves and causes rubbing, sorry. It should fit the horse standing still and in all paces.

If mine didn't move at all it would rub much worse because he would be moving underneath it and generating more friction if that makes sense (I have no qualms about my saddle being an excellent fit). - He was better in a saddle that didn't fit because it made less back contact ;).
