As in title really. My youngster is being shod next week and i was going to try overreach boots on him as he tends to pull off shoes. I guess neoprene ones will be no good as always wet, but are the petal ones better than the rubber ones?

My mare used to pull her shoes of constantly so i just used to use the rubber ones as they were cheap and i got through so many of them it was easier to buy them in bulk. We have 2 horses at college who live in neoprene ones, they seem happy with them but i think that they have to fit well or else they can rub (as can the rubber ones) and are expensive if your horse is going to pull them off and lose them all the time lol. The petal ones are fine, they make an annoying noise when the horse moves but they are just as good as other ones. I havnt seen them being left on when turned out tho, i have only seen them in use when being ridden, not sure if they rub or if theres any other problems with them.

I got petal boots for my friesian who tends to pull shoes off in summer months. I just use them for turn out and have made multicoloured sets!
I couldn't find boots large enough so I just fixed 2 straps together.
Also if they pull a boot off they are easy to spot!:D
