Which paint for wooden stable?

Which is the best paint to paint the inside of a wooden stable with? It just needs tidying up a little. I am after something that would seal the wood as I put huge straw banks up which I only usually turn twice through the winter.

Can I just use something like Ronseal? The stable will not be occupied for 2 weeks after painting.

hi we painted the lower half of the kick boards up to where i bank with bitumen paint (only available in black) and the rest with cupronal. if the bitumen is good enough for roofs it good enough for my horse !! hope this helps

has long as it is water based other wise it will be toxic if he eats it!
