We're looking for a new saddle for our pony as her old one is diabolical. Shes a 13.1 Welsh d x Exmoor (but swings more towards the exmoor i think!) She also doesnt have much withers. Shes owned by my younger sister who is as thin as a rake so wouldnt need a big saddle, plus with Bonnie being little herself we're looking for something thats not too long for her. So..

Ive been looking at a 15" Wintec 500 Junior GP on ebay. The seller says its previously been worn by a New Forest x. It says it has interchangable gullets. So could this be suitable for her?

Thanks

The best thing would be to take a template of her back. Then you would know what width and shape saddle would fit her. I would always use a society of master saddlers approved fitter! Best to be sure that it itn't going to cause any problems for both pony and rider.

We had very simular issues with my old pony.. we ended up using a GFS gp on him, which seemed to fit the best.

The wintec 15" pony saddle is a really long saddle that measures the same length as a 16" thorowgood - it has a short seat but long, extended panels. It was far too long for any of the small ponies I tried it on.

Fairly nice saddle with a similar design to a wintec WIDE cob saddle, not the larger 500's, so suits more ponies. However they don't fit very wide, flat ponies well as they don't go wide enough and the tree starts to become too curved.

If the saddles short enough, and the pony's not hugely wide then it might be a good fit. If not have a look at the thorowgood pony saddles - they're lovely!
