Hi Guys,

I need to buy a sat nav for my horse box tomorrow. I've been looking on the reveiw sites and forums, but now I'm just confused.

In your opinion, what is the most trustworthy sat nav for me and my horses?

Thanks

We just bought a Garmin, really easy to use and lets you know where the traffic hotspots are so you can avoid them, ESP if travelling with horses

I haven't yet :p. Im going to google all the ones mentioned on the other thread and this before proceeding :). Essentially I need one with a clear screen, relatively large size, which you can input weights and lorry dimensions into so it can avoid unsuitable routes :). And ideally that shows traffic jams/ road closures too :). So many people say use a map which is great if you are good at map reading and remembering but hopeless if you are me! :D

Go for one with lifetime map updates

Have the Garmin Nuvi 1440
it has a generous screen and appears to do what it says on the box...

Thats what I'v done, but got conflicting reviews.

Just want some one to say 'this one is great' :)

Looks like the garmin is the most popular atm.

best one we had was a mio, could put in what type of vehicle you were in so it didn't take you down silly unclassified roads etc,was easy to use and the screen was cood and clear, think they are now linked with Nav man, cost me half the price of the Tomtom which we got to replace it (hubby managed to smash the screen:rolleyes: ) hate the tomtom as you can't change vehicle type so it's crap when we're towing the caravan , stupid thing turns itself off randomly, usually just as you get to a junction:mad: Have heard good things about garmin as well but when we get another I'll be going for a Mio;)

I have a Pro Nav in my wagon and OH has a Snooper Ventura - I think it's an S600, fitted in motorhom (which is 10 metres in length). Both will accept changes in vehicle size and only send you down suitable roads. The wagon has an internal camera too but seperate whereas the motorhome has it fitted to a reversing camera. I have safely negotiated London & France with both and would say they are essential if you drive alone. Tom toms are good for cars but as someone else has said will send you down dirt tracks!! Good luck!!
