After enjoying a few days hunting on a cap last year, I am thinking of actually joining a hunt this season. Not having hunted that much before, I have no idea which to join. The Lauderdale is quite close, as is the Duke of Buccleuch's and the Berwickshire, and the Fife is probably just as near. (I live in Midlothian).

What I'm looking for in a hunt really is good hunt jumps as I prefer jumping to anything else, and secondary to this, a sociable hunt where I might make some new friends!

Oh and if anyone knows where you actually buy one of those woolen hunt coats, please let me know! Or if anyone has a second hand size 8/10 one to sell!

Hi, sorry I cant help you on the hunt, as I live at completely the other end of the country, but... I was looking at the new Shires catalogue recently and they have some lovely looking wool hunt coats in mens and womens for £149. they also do waistcoats in wool for £39. They are obviously not as good as say a Melton wool coat but they really look quite nice. Hope this helps.
Good luck finding the right hunt.

Don't know about Fife. Lauderdale has more hill country, Berwickshire I would think is a bit of a travel, Duke of Buccleugh do lots of jumping - hope that helps! Why don't you have a day with each and see what each is like - sounds like a fun way to make up your mind :D
