I am moving to a new yard soon where I have to provide my own bedding. What shavings do you recommend?

I quite like easybed, but you nee a really deep bed most people put a sprinkle down, don't take out the wee and wander why it reeks lol!! I don't use that though i use paper, that's my fave but it can be expensive £25 a bag very squishy and fluffy though

I use Elderspan - The chips are much smaller than some other brands
I prefer the smaller chips as they seem to stay cleaner than large chips which can look really mucky. The main reason I prefer small chips though, is that because they have a 'greater surface area' they are better at absorbing wet, even though they can be more expensive than large chips. As long as I am careful not to take much clean bed out when I am mucking out, I find that I only use 1 bale a week.

I LOVE duobed. Shavings that are mixed with chopped straw, smells amazing and has loads in a bag. Makes a lovely fluffy bed.

ETA: This is quite cheap too, around £5.50 a bag

Bed down- like duo bed by the sounds of it. It it shavings and chopped straw- FAB stuff. My horse has in the past had respiritory problems, and also eats his bed if on straw. With this stuff I get the best of both, no coughing, and no eating.

£6.50 a bag down here.

I love aubiose its only a little more expensive that shavings but i hardly use any and have really sved money! Used to go throught 2 bales of shavings a week but on aubiose i have got down to half a bale a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BEDMAX works great nice n cheap too about £6 - £6.50 i only use one bale a week with a messy pony but i do use rubber matting aswell

we're supplied woodpecker? theyre really small flakes which are great as work better for my bed trasher, but not so small they can be easily inhaled etc... we used to use this sundown yellow stuff, they do it as a chopped straw/shavings mix too and its sprayed with citronella or various other things to help breathing/keep flies away etc, but only really any good as deep litter and as horse digs bed up that was never going to work lol
