Which showing class?

This horse can't jump anymore due to an old sacro illiac problem, so which showing class would he be good in? He is 15hh cob type. Probably not carrying as much weight as in the bottompicture more like the first one due to just comning out of winter.

The hog has now grown out so is able to be plaited.
Its a shame really as he used to do this

Middle weight hunter or cob type? Grab a load of schedules and see what classes he might fit into!

There are often things at local shows like novice or open showing that are good for horses beginning showing, but if you're looking at something more county level then there are stricter guidelines on who can enter what

I think he looked very smart hogged! I'm not very good with cob classes though and not sure on the height restrictions, I know there was a big debate about it a little while ago.

OH is riding very short in pic 1 and girl in pic 2 isn't very tall. He really is only 15hh!! I thought maybe ridden hunter aswell!

Who knows - probably connie x irish cob or similar maybe a bit of ID in there somewhere definatly irish though.

This is the show we are aiming for. I am doing the prelim 7 and thought i'd attempt a showing class too. Would love to do county level showing but his confo and his feet (see old post) would let him down so will stick to little local ones till my youngster is old enough to do some ridden showing / dressage.
 
Ah, well from that schedule definatley Ridden Cob/Hunter and then Riding Club Horse (you can opt out of the jump but does look better if you do it, so you may not want to do this class if you can't jump at all) if you wanted to do two classes. Looking at him I'd probably hog him again to be honest but maybe get some more advice first as I'm no cob expert!

No not quite a veteran although the show we are going to the veteran class is 15 and over - would I get away with it even though his passport says he is 10?
 
I wouldn't have thought they'd ask to see anything to prove his age but to be honest in the veteran classes you often get some really well looking horses that are 25 and older which often take it and the horses 15-20 don't get as much of a chance, but hey, depends on the luck of what else is in there on the day. Your boys really smart though!

Cob classes are generally up to 15.1 and your horse would ideally be hogged. I took my cob into a show hunter class last year as he is too big for the cob classes and was told he was in the wrong class! (I just didn't want to do any jumping) the one that won was a TB dressage horse and most of the others in the class were very lightweight types. I am sure though you will get some definitive answers from the showing experts on here!!
 
He looks a nice sort and for local showing I would say try Cob classes first and maybe try a Hunter class and see what happens. Happy Showing

From the schedule you have linked to, the combined Ridden Cob /Hunter class. Trim his legs, pull his tial, and plait up hunter style.

Your Riding Club horse has an optional jump, but you are a bit cuaght out if you say he cannot jump any more, due to a problem.
