Which side reins?

My horse is establishing a nice contact now and I am keen to get him working properly on the lunge too. I have tried many different 'gadgets' and after forking out on an equiami, have actually found that he is happiest and working best with side reins.

The side reins I tried are cheap nylon ones with elastic, and I would like to invest in a nicer leather pair, but confused by the choice available.

Which type are best? No elastic, leather with elastic, or the ones with doughnuts on?

Also, is it best to have them the same length or to loosen the outside rein a hole or two?

Thanks in advance

I have Fylde ones which have some good elastic in. Like those very much, Agree re buckles, I don't like the ones with the slidey things. I have mine the same length which is one of the reasons I like buckles

Thank you both, although still unsure whether to get ones with elastic or not! Cob in question can sometimes lean on the bit so perhaps ones without would be better in his case?
