Which skull cap?

Got to buy a new crash hat following fall in January, the one I was wearing was a charles owen quite basic one that I only used for hacking but it was old and although it did some good I still can't rmember anything about that day or the day after.

Going to downgrade my 2yo Charles Owen J3 for hacking/schooling and get a new eventing/hunting one. So which ones is recommended?

The two best in my books are either the Gatehouse HS1 or Champion Vent Air. Both look nice and have leather straps.
I really wanted a gatehouse but vanity won so I ended up with a ventair as so much less bulky and does not look like a german tank helmet!

Its a Gatehouse they are handed out for free at Badminton if youa re riding there which is why a lot of prs wear them.

I think the Gatehouse High Spec 1 is great. Worth the money too!! The guy who makes them does hand them out free at Badders and then says that they are the most worn hat there!! What a surprise!!

arghhh i looked at both of them today at Lincoln and now am none the wiser! Do you think the J3 Charles Owen is less high spec now than the others?
