They are both stunning but I agree with the others, if I were to pick one, it would be Phanten.
I don't find the first picture of Allbany very flattering (IMO) and it would be nice if we could see a side view picture (if you get me) of him jumping.
Don't think you can make a fair judgement when you only see one shot of the first stallion...both look lovely but I would like to see them both equally to make a decision
...but if you held a knife to my throat
and said choose one or die!!!!....then I'd say the second, he's more macho looking
I love Phanten too. I have just sold a horse, so at last have enough money in my "foal fund". I really need to get a move on and get organised, but this is my 2nd foal, and 1st experience of AI, (used a local stallion last time & natural covering) and I really am unsure of where to start.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Phanten for me too, Allbany looks deformed, his head is teeny BUT he can't be weird or he wouldn't of won all of the stuff he has. I'd be inclined to ask for more photos from the owners. I do prefer Phantens markings though. Good luck
Well, I've met Phanten, when he was in training with Justin Tuff, and he was very relaxed and well natured, seemed an easy horse to deal with.
Not keen on Allbany as he tried to kick my gelding at Devon County a few years ago, a real double barrel job outside the ring. Some people would say that's what you should expect from an entire, but I found it unacceptable.
Sounds promising. He is the first coloured to 'catch my eye' for a while. I just hope I can use him and I haven't left it too late.
Is the mare she rides coloured? I can't seem to find offspring that are not coloured, although it doesn't say he is gauranteed colour.
although I still prefer the other stallion! Axel's mother and 1/2 sister are both on loan to Pferde Stud and I think have both had foals by Allbany this year.
Rainbowrider, would be worth asking in the breeding forum as breeders in there might have used either stallion. No guarentee of colour from either stallion - 50/50.
Albany has had offspring that have been very successful in the show ring
Phanten would have a strong sporthorse pedigree.
Phanten used to be frozen semen only at one point so you need a very good repro vet if you go the frozen route
Neither. If you are thinking of this year, then you are looking at July as the earliest for the foal. It will be 4mths old by the time Nov comes & may need to come in, so you will need a big enough stable for both mare & a fair sized foal.
Thanks Volatis. I'd like a coloured, but I'm not overly fussed, so I don't mind taking a chance on the colour. "A good horse is never a bad colour"and all that.
I didn't realise he may only do frozen. Do you think I should ask the stud if that is the case?
ETS: Just looked at the website and it says in bold print - frozen only!!
