Our Welsh D x appaloosa had a lovely filly this year, out of a Welsh D, which we thought would be the only foal we would breed. Circumstances have changed, (long and uninteresting story) and we are considering breeding the mare again this year, with a view to selling the second foal after weaning.
For those who have managed to avoid my many posts through 2007, the mare is a few spot appaloosa, this only became apparent due to lovely people on HHO explaining it to me! Having put her to a chesnut, she has thrown a near leopard spot. We will be using AI for her this time, so she will stay at home.
Now, do I go with the same type of stallion, which has thrown a very nice chunky foal which should be a good allrounder in time, or a completely different type of stallion, bearing in mind I won't be keeping the foal, and want the foal to have the best chance of being a useful horse for it's owner? Only really found out this evening that we can breed her again, and only got as far as thinking 'TB or Section D' !!
Any views appreciated, pics of mare and foal below, apologies to those who have seen them mny times before.
