Hi

I'm venturing into the idea of breeding from my mare, I always planned to breed from her and it's the reason I bought a mare in the first place. I would look to out her in foal either next year or one after.

So, thoughts! She has just turned 9, is a smidge over 16.3, KWPN with pink papered passport with AES, her breeding is

Sire - Pleasant Wing (AES), by Concorde x Goldwing (Ster), grandsire - Voltaire (Pref) x Flyer (Prest) and Ubis (STB) x Dalve (Keur)

Dam - Osaki M (Reg B WPN), by Winnetou AES x Falada Appaloosa (VRM), grandsire - Samber(STB) x Beatrix (STB) and Sonny Af Hojmark (Pref) x Padok (VRM)

Could someone also please tell me what VRM, Pref, Ster etc all mean???

She is a very sweet, kind mare, very straight, clever and relatively traininable. She is also a bit of a coward. I'm looking for something of similar height (I'm 5'11) and ideally black, bay or chestnut. I just can't face having another coloured one to keep clean, it's a mission and the thought of having to get two coloureds clean on comp day scares me!

She can jump, we've just started doing novice BD and hope to go much higher, thinking elem by mid summer, I'd be looking for a stallion who is very uphill, with good length of neck and lovely attitude.

Will consider stallions all over, and will happily pay out a fair stud fee as only going to be doing this once. Foal will be a keeper no matter what but ideally suited to dressage and showjumping

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi thanks

I've been looking at Wolkenderry as he's at stud not too far from me, not sure if I wouold be better going for something older though and more proven?

Having had a quick peek online, I like all of these chaps -

Demonstrator
Rassolini
Furst Kiss
Negro

well if you want proven then out of those listed imo you're probably looking at demonstrator, who has some quality stock on the ground, although he is a more traditional warmblood and may not give you the length of leg or neck, or dimaggio who always scores high in sire rankings, certainly if you were looking for a proven dressage sire of those, I'd be using dimaggio!

Also look at Broadstone Landmark, and Rubinstar N, certainly if you like demonstrator the latter stallion may take your fancy! and he has some nice stock on the ground too.

ahh didn't see jazz!! if you're talking that sort of stud fee then yes he is a very good sire!! has some first class offspring on the ground, graded stallions within their own right!! Jazz is known for throwing hotheads, so if your mare is quite easy then the cross would be good, but the jazz line aren't infamous jumpers!!

If you dont mind a young stallion there is Cendy who might suit & Legrande would be up there he is just gorg. That is the problem so many to choose from but I really think Legrande would suit your mare.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the suggestions, they all look lush so will have to start researching them in more detail!

Can see this being a long task!

Thanks!

in my experience Negro can throw very quirky horses, albeit nice ones.

Treliver Decanter & Chaos are two of my favourites

Ah, well she's already a little quirky so maybe Negro can be knocked off the list!

Chaos is ruled out as just not into greys, and Decanter is lovely, amazing colour, plus his sire is Dimaggio who is def on the list!

Thanks for suggestions!

I love Demonstrator but for your mare I think he is too heavy and I would rule out jazz as he throws quirky hot professional rides.

The stallions at UK hanoverians are super and the owner is lovely and very knowledgable. I love Rhondeo who is there but I would think Dimaggio would suit your mare well from the pictures as his offspring not only are very competitive in dressage but they can still jump.

Rassolini is not one I would immediatly think of as being dual purpose.

As you want jump and movement then echo the recommendations for Legrande. One of my mares is being bred back to him this year after she has had a cracking filly this time round.
or if you dont mind using a German based stallion I would consider Stalypso at Sprehe who adds nice movement and plenty of jump and is a lovely horse in the flesh. Another jumper whose foals move very well is balou de Rouet here at Schockemohles, but he can throw a bit small sometimes so if you want to add height he wont guarantee it, but his babies are real favourites of mine as they are sensitive in a nice way, and as I said move very nicely for jumpers
