Hi I have a 14.2hh outgrown Irish bred mare - Cavalier Royale x Touchstone (ISH) x Slyguff Hero (ID)

She was a equivelant JC jumper by age of 6 in Ireland when we bought her and she became PC pony - done ODE, SJ @ Hickstead and area dressage BUT sometimes she can be quirky (typical Cavalier although looks nothing like them - all PC instructors thought she was a New Forest!).

I had a foal out of her 2008 by Palomino Dressage Stallion Angel K 16.1hh http://www.staerebogaard.dk/?Hingste:St%E6rebog%E5rds_Apollo_EPAH_7 and looks like she will make about 15hh.

So the question is do I possibly try and breed another small horse possibly with more bone or go for a pony. An which direction - eventing, dressage, SJ (I event).

So if she was your mare which stallion would you use? Particularly interesting in stallions doing natural cover (especially if in South East but that may be too big an ask!!)

Thank you for your input

pretthorse,

what would I do in your shoes? exactly as you did last time. THAT is a very smart mare, and the foal isn't that bad either!

In the last pic the foal has an alarmingly good top line. Do as you did before, they look terrific, both of them. You should be proud of them.

Alec.

She has lovely eventing bloodlines so if she was mine i would pick a TB horse to breed a small event horse.
Something like this boy of ours that does natural cover.

This is one of his first offspring that is due out eventing this year out of a TB mare.

Thank you for your advice - the best thing about the foal is her temperament though - although you wouldn't recognise either at the moment - wooly mammoths and the pics of the mare were taken about 3 years ago!

Mare x Angel K had crossed my mind as stallion is very local and has produced several good dressage horses crossed with a TB and had also considered thoroughbred - thank you for the suggestion he looks lovely!

Also possibly a nice connemara to breed a pony but the favourite templebready fear bui has moved to France so...

Hi, take a look at Royaldik, he will put legs on her and produce fab movement for better dressage marks, he also has an exceptional temperament. You could also look at Check In or Landor S, both very blood type SJ stallions who have produced eventers! I have these or more on my site.
