Which stirrup irons are best?! What do you ride in?

Just need new pair of stirrup irons, can't decide whether to get traditional type or flexi ones or bent safety ones?
I don't like peacock ones as I think they're more for kids as if your foot leans against it pings off!!!
What do you use/recommend?x

Same as JessPickle unbranded flexi stirrups. They cost me £14.99 on ebay, have had some hard use in their time and are now fitted with toe cages so I can wear my walking trainers to ride.

I will certainly be buying another pair when these ones give up.

I'm a size 5 shoe and they are 4.75 inch irons

Sprenger System 4 stirrup irons - TONNES better than cheap copies - My knees are so shot, but these really help.

There are two types of Sprenger, the newer model has blue treads.

Does anyone know what difference in performanace there is between the two?

There have been a few posts on them - all the reports are they are both fab and once used no one will go back! The blue ones are the bow balance ones - they are slightly offset . Sorry can't be more help but I wouldn't change my Sprengers for the world!!

O and the bow balance are about £20 dearer!!

I have the System 4 offset eye ones.

I have sprenger offset ones, when I lose my strirrups they are much easier for me to find again.

They are much better for my joints (I have arthritis and lupus) than other stirrups I have used. Took me a few years of wishing for them then I just thought bugger it and paid the money, they were well worth it in my opinion and I am glad I did not go for the cheaper versions as I would not have been able to buy them offset.

Me too. When I get off, my ankles and knees flex more easily now when I hit the ground and so save my feet. My knees are far better as well.

I wouldn't go back either
