Which Stud book

A livery of mine has a foal by Jaguar Mail out of a mare registered as an Anglo Arab

Which stud book would be best to register with ?

SHB(gb) can offer an identity passport but she feels that registering her as British is a little hypoctitical as with two parents that are of French origin the foal is hardly British

if she registers the foal with AES for example would she still be able to compete in all of the BEF classes ?

Jaguar Mail is approved with Selle Francais so perhaps Equicors their representative in Britain would be the correct choice.

I checked them out earlier and they didnt seem very established and it would seem that you have to pay a membership yearly

I don't think it matters which studbook they are registered with for futurity classes, as long as they were born in the UK and you have the relevant breeding info.

Why would she be worried about being hypocritical if she registered SHB, if she is also thinking about doing futurity - which is for British bred horses? If the foal was bred over here then it is eligible for the classes, and is also eligible for SHB passport!

She should register the foal with whichever studbook suits her best!

If going for a UK studbook I would go for AES OR BWBS....otherwise I would go SF as that is his graded studbook. The futurity counts on place of birth and not studbook and so you would be fine to reg with foreign studbook.

from personal experience i REALLY wouldnt bother with Equicours!
