As per title.
I need one with the fullest possible coverage for my 4yr old with a midge allergy.
Comments would be great too, especially about rubbing/overheating/ripping.
Thanks!

well, i bought an Amigo Bug Rug a couple of weeks ago and my 4 yr old, also with midge-bite allergy, has lived in it ever since. i'm really pleased with it, especially considering the price.
the only thing is that it only goes about 4/5 way up the neck, so i have to put a bit of fly repellent on the top of her neck, but she hasn't rubbed at all since i put it on, and hasn't sweated either.

I was very lucky and found an ad on a local horsey website, 2 boetts in the right size with flymasks bought last year vgc for £150.00. I went, they were absolutely immaculate, I bought! Thrilled to bits... And last years scabby old one can be used for patching.

All I would say about them is that we have havefound that Boetts dont stand up too well to rubbing in our stable. This year we are changing her once she's in, into a cotton sheet and lycra hood (cheaper to replace). As the "new" boett is holding up really well, it seems to confirm it was in the stable where she was trashing it.

I've not had a sweet itch horse before this year, the mare I am looking after has a Rambo SI hoody and I'm very impressed. She is a chunky TB x Connemara and it fits her really well and doesn't move. She seems to stay really cool in it, she often feels cooler than the unrugged ones actually. I also feed her Marmite or Brewers yeast with Global Herbs Skratch, this really seems to make her less attractive to midges.

DMs, in my experience, are every bit as good as the Boetts & a bit cheaper. The people that sell them in the UK give fantastic service & couldn't have been better when I had to return one because of a slight problem - no quibble despite the fact I'd altered it & a new one sent out immediatly. One of mine is nown it's fourth year & still going strong.

I've got the De Meulenkampf rugs ofr my shetland and can't rate it highly enough, they are just as good Boetts IMO and cheaper too, he's had his for 2 years. we have just got him anew one so that we can put the other away for a spare. If you can afford one then I think they are definately worth spending the money on they are worth every penny, he suffers really bad with SI too but now we have no need for lotions and potions.

My pony has servere sweet-itch and we have had boetts on him for a few years, cannot rate them highly enough! However this year we bought him a De Meulenkampf and so far so good, but the midge season has really kicked in yet so will have to wait and see. the DMs are cheaper though, so if this one lasts then we will be sticking to them in future
