I am looking to buy a trailer to transport my 16.2 mare. she is 3 so will grow more so need to be mindful of this. Do i buy an Ifor williams which we have had before when i used to pony club and hunt or an equitrek as it has some living in and offers a bit more comfort.

which gives a better ride?

also take a friends 15hand out. Towing is not an issue as have heavy duty tow vehicle.

Well if you've got the money then I love equitrek trailers!!! I've never towed one but love the set up of them!! not sure what the nose weights are on them though, some I've seen look a bit nose heavy?

But if looking at 'normal' trailers I love my richardson it's the 2x17.2hh supreme and has a mahhhooosive!! 1600Kg payload!! It's taller than the ifor 510 too and just things like the ramp being on the right side and the grooms door being able to be opened from inside are fab touches!!

I have a Wessex Olympian which is huge and very stable. It also has left hand unload which is much better for large horses. My 16.3 ID hates unloading from right hand Ifor Williams as it is too tight a turn and a friend had similar problems with her horse catching his hip on right hand unload.

Ifor Williams do now do left hand unload and the new model looks very smart.

Another vote for the wessex olympian. Really fab! One of our mares is tricky to load on an ifor as the rattles and harder ride bother her. Ever since we have had the wessex she has loaded like a lamb and been totally chilled out when travelling. Lovely fancy leather padding inside, v posh! Great trailer!

I know some people don't like them, but I love my equitrek. I've not had any problems with it, and it's easy to handle if you are loading on your own. I have discovered horses who 'don't do trailers' will happily travel in my one. I have the space L, my TB is 17.2hh, and I've had an 18hh Shire x in with plenty of room to spare.

I have just bought a richardson supreme ultra for my big boy.Very spacious and good ride.
I looked at many and kept coming back to this make.Personally i didn't like the equi-trek,i have heard of far too many problems with them .
I got my trailer from BEARTS in Stowbridge, near kings lynn.As you live in Norfolk this may be a good place to look.He deals in Richardson,Equi-trek and Bateson so you can view and compare.
Happy trailer hunting.
