Hi everybody.

Here's a question on vaccinations. I may move to the UK spring next year (not certain yet) for work. If so, I will bring my two shetland ponies along.

At the moment it is time for their yearly vaccinations. (I live in the Netherlands) Here it is common to only vaccinate against Influenza and Tetanus (I think it's combined). I have the option now to also do Rhino.

However I want to do the right thing now to avoid complicating possible travel and import.

What is common in UK to vaccinate for? As far as I could find regulations it only said that a health certificate is needed, for import into UK.
Also I'm wondering if stables usually ask for specific vaccinations, just to be sure I will also be able to find somewhere nice to go to

thanks for the help!

Influenza and tetanus are the main ones here too

Normally the 'flu jab is given annually and tetanus every two years, once their initial course as youngsters have been completed, which I guess they have done from the sounds of it.

Some stables may ask to see proof of immunisation (a horse's passport is used in the UK to record immunisation history, not sure if all horses in the Netherlands have them too?) but the majority in my experience don't.

Good luck with the move

Thanks!

Yes they have a passport now, that's obligatory since a few years in the Netherlands. And for sure for travel.
I will do a "basic vaccination" again now, (one + a booster within half a year) to be sure, the early vaccinations were not officially registered at the time although they do have a note in their passports.
