Which vet in the Bridgend area

I'm currently with B&W and am deeply unsatisfied with them so am looking to change. Presumably the options are Cotts or Nick West.

Can anybody recommend one or the other? If you have Cotts do you tend to get the senior vets or do they often send kids out? And if you go with Nick is it easy to get to see him with him being a one man band.

I've heard good and bad about both so if anybody can share their experiences I'd be interested to hear them.

Thanks.

I've only ever had brilliant service from B&W, so I'm sorry to hear your not happy. I think that Nick West comes highly recommended, although have no personal experience. The other practice that I used for many, many years was Park Vets. They are based in Cardiff but I'm pretty sure they cover Bridgend too.

Park don't do horses any more and Maes Glas have recently stopped too so options are a bit limited. I have had good service from B & W too but thankfully haven't had to ask them to deal with anything serious yet

Thanks both. I think to be fair it is one vet in particular that is the problem rather than the practice as a whole. Unfortunately this one vet seems to be the one that gets sent to our yard by default. I've just asked to swap to one of the other vets in the practice and will see how things go. Hopefully if I make sure to specify who I want from now on it will be better. If I'm still not happy then I think I'm going to give Nick a go.

Ah, didn't realise.

Allen Brown is still practising privately though I think, op.

Bit late to the party but yes Allen is still practising privately although he's supposed to be semi-retired so is picky about new clients, more in terms of location that actual clients so he's not spending all day travelling. You might be ok in Bridgend. He also uses B&W as emergency back-up when he's on holiday (which is a fair bit these days and who can blame him!) so if you want to avoid them he may not be the best choice. The good thing about Allen is you know you'll always get Allen as he's now a one man band. I've only had to use B&W once in an emergency and was very lucky to get David, who was fabulous. My friend wasn't quite so lucky with one of the more junior vets.
