I am sick of buying Ariat Mudbusters and them splitting at the sole. Ariat have already replaced one pair free of charge and now the pair that they sent to me, plus the next pair that I bought have both split. I love the fact they are so comfy and sturdy, but at the price they are, I'm not getting another pair which split 3 months down the line.

Now I don't have massive calves - I'm not a complete chubber, but they are very muscular. The ariats fit perfect over jeans and they can be fully fastened at the side but Hunters don't fit quite as easily - they are just a tad tight. So anyone got any recommendations for wellies for a slightly more generous calf? Thanks

I used to wear the specific womens Huntress ones but the quality was rubbish. Have now been converted to Le Chameau ones. Cost more but last 5x as long, and they fit my calves fine despite not being lady-specific. I get the neoprene lined ones as am in Cairngorms.

A previous thread on here pointed me in the direction of the Aigle Parcours Vario, I toddled off and got a pair from Amazon at a bargain price and I will never go back to cheap Wellies. They have a sturdy sole like a walking boot and they are really wide on the leg.

Yes I've heard of these before - they look nice and sturdy - just had a look on ebay at some....

I've got muck boot company esks and I love them. Very warm, totally waterproof and really comfortable. Last pair did me 4 winters of hard use, current pair are one winter in and showing signs of lasting just as long. They may not be pretty but I don't spend much time looking at my feet when they're comfortable ;)

I'm normally all for supporting Muckboot Co's wellies, but my mum has wider calves and she has had her pair of Aigle wellies for well over 10 years now and they're still alive! Highly recommend them, she would live in them if she could lol.

Another vote for Muck Boots. I've had mine for 2 years now and they have no obvious signs of wear or tear. They are lovely and warm and comfy and fit my chunky calves a treat!

Sorry for hijacking thread a bit but hunter definitely have gone taller and thinner - possibly due to being directed towards the high street now.

I bought a pair real cheap from my local agricultural suppliers dirt cheap because they had been sat at the back of the shop for ages and ages!! They are shorter, wider and far better quality compared to the ones I tried on at the local saddlery shop.

Anyone else found that?

I would go for Aigle. Best wellies i have ever bought. So comfortable and mine have lasted over 2 years of nearly constant use. Sadly now they have a split which lets in the water. Want some more but they seem to have shot up in price since I bought them.
