You may remember a few months ago I was looking for a yard, well the search begins again unfortunately!
Yard One
Good Points
1, The stables are secure
2, The fields are all post and railed
3, There is an individual field for mare and foal
4, The mares and geldings are turned out seperately
5, The hacking is fantastic
6, The school is floodlit
Bad Points
1, The mare who in in foal can only go out for 1 hour a day
2, The horses (generally) are only permitted to go out for a few hours every other day
3, There is only one field being used for 20+ horses in winter and it is trashed totally
4, It is not clear how long the mare and foal will get out (PM me for more details on this as I don't want to put it on an open forum)
5, All horses on the yard have stable vices as a result of the lack of turnout
Yard Two
Good Points
1, The stables are all large and airy
2, They can go out every day in winter
3, There is someone on site who does the livery
4, The mare can go out all day every day from the moment she goes onto the yard (and then with her foal)
5, The school is floodlit
6, The horses can go out 24/7 in summer
7, There is a horse walker
8, Mare and foal will get out with some shetlands so not just the two of them
Bad Points
1, It is not as pristine looking as Yard One
2, Some of the fields have barbed wire on the fencing (although not the one for mare and foal)
3, The yard is full of dogs, chickens, geese etc etc
4, The two horses (I have another one too) would not be in the same stable block
5, The hacking requires you to go along a busy main road before you can get to any decent hacking
So, which one would you choose???
