Hi all,

Yesterday evening we decided to pop up to our local village pub for a quick drink and thought it would be nice to take Barnes with us.

He had been to the loo on the walk up there so should have been nice and comfy to settle down for a pint........however.....

The whole time we were in the pub he did nothing but whine and whinge! I have no idea what his problem was and he wouldn't even settle sitting on my lap. I took his treats with him and when he was quiet for a few minutes I praised him and gave him a treat, but it didn't last.

He does have a tendancy to moan very persitantly if he's on the lead for a walk and we stop to chat to someone.

I will be taking him back to the pub, as would love him to share our social time but really don't want to p*ss off all the regulars!!! So does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do to stop the whining???

Thanks in advance

H

PS - forgot to say, for those that don't know Barnes is a 8 month old JRT.

Maybe - but why and how can I make him more comfortable? He was with the two people he loves to spend time with more than anything and I have never let anything bad happen to him. Also the pub was practicly deserted so it wasn't like it was all noisy and packed......

Hazzie used to jump on my back and 'rage' me when I stopped to talk for too long on a walk. It was his way of saying...
" come on.....this is boring! lets go!" very similar to a kid whinging when you have to go shopping and they want to get to the toy shop!
Solution I am afraid is tough love....Keep taking him back to the pub and ignore him! When he stops whining...take him out for a walk around and a sniff. Try to ask the landlord if he has quieter hours when you could come in and 'practice' so to speak.
Best of luck!

Thanks Woolly! I must admit that it did come accross as 'bratish' behaviour. He was telling me it was boring sitting there and he wanted to be running around! I'm glad you said to ignore him, that was my instinct so as not to praise or draw attention to unwanted behaviour but I do feel mean!!!

I'll definitely keep going back and 'practising'!
