Well, I hope I got your attention..!!
I need your assistance if you do not mind please!x
Now, state the truth the whole truth and nothing but the thruth!!
1. Have you ever been aware that your mood can actually alter your horses mood? If so how?
2. How long do you spend grooming your horse each day?
3. Does your horse ever want to groom you in return?
4. Have you ever had a non verbal communication with your horse? If so how?
5. Do you find you are attracted to a certain type of horse..ie..fiesty, quiet?
6. Have you found being around positive people can affect your performance as a rider?
7. Has a horse ever mirrored your behaviour?
and lastly....have you ever experienced anything through the insight of what a horse has taught you...

Hold nothing back!! I want to hear it all....besides...we are all a little crazy...we must be.we spent all our money on these animals...and not all of us for the glory of competing, So I want to find out the power of these wonderful creatures and give back to them what they give to us...!x

1. well yes, mood influences behaviour, tolerance, responses to the horse, horse responds differently to different behaviours on my part, or different requests / tension on my part etc.

2. varies massively from very little to most of the day.

3. sometimes. 2 year old is very mutual groomy.

4. most communication is non-verbal - body language requests on the ground, physical cues when ridden etc.

5. Stubborn and eccentric, like me.

6. No, never tried being positive around people as I don't like them :p Don't think it affects my riding when I'm around horses not people.

7. again a lot of body language-based communication involves mirroring, and a lot basic training with youngsters.

8 not quite sure what you mean tbh.

1. Have you ever been aware that your mood can actually alter your horses mood? If so how?
No, doesnt matter what mood im in, he will still just want a snog.
2. How long do you spend grooming your horse each day?
Erm...I dont. Im one of these brush the tack areas before a ride type people. He gets cuddle time though and plenty of snogs.
3. Does your horse ever want to groom you in return?
Ive always discouraged anything like that as he will be nice for ages then have a sneaky chomp lol
4. Have you ever had a non verbal communication with your horse? If so how?
I like to think every time I ride him its non verbal communication
5. Do you find you are attracted to a certain type of horse..ie..fiesty, quiet?
Nah, I like my horse, not overly fussed on the rest of them. He has his quiet donkey days and his spronk and canter off with me days. Its him im in love with, not his type.
6. Have you found being around positive people can affect your performance as a rider?
YES! It brings your confidence up loads to have someone on the ground just telling you that you CAN do it.
7. Has a horse ever mirrored your behaviour?
used to play in the paddock when he was a baby. I run and he would run...does that count? lol

1. Yes. He knows when he can get away with being cheeky and when I need him quiet, gentle and on his best behavior.

2. About half hour.

3. No, he's too busy relaxing and dozing or pulling his "bliss" face when I find an itchy spot.

4. Yes lots, we know each other inside out and pick up on the tiniest body language gestures. I don't expect anyone to believe me but I once had a telepathic incident with my last one.

5. Prefer the quiet ones. No objections to them having an opinion and making it known, but anything that's constantly having a meltdown drains me emotionally. I can deal with those horses but don't find it fun.

6. Sort of. People's opinions don't bother me. The kind of trainers who constantly have a go at you in a derogatory way make me angry and tense. Nobody rides well when they're tense.

7. My horse mirrors my emotions with his behavior. Eg if I don't feel like schooling I'll struggle to persuade him to move, if I'm confident he'll go past something scary. That sort of thing.

1. Have you ever been aware that your mood can actually alter your horses mood? If so how? Yes, particularly with my chestnut mare who is naturally very nervous. If I'm calm and confident, she's less nervous.

2. How long do you spend grooming your horse each day? They are only groomed if they are muddy and they need a rug or some form of tack on. Then I often only groom the bits that will be covered with the rug/tack. The only exception to this is for the grey, who often comes over because she wants a groom/scratches/fuss. She'd stand for hours and hours as long as she is the centre of attention. The bay on the other hand likes a pat but if you want to groom her you have to tie her up or she bogs off.

3. Does your horse ever want to groom you in return? The grey likes to put her head up and do her best llama impression (AKA happy face), so she doesn't groom back. I don't let the gelding groom back because he's a right little monkey and wouldn't be able to resist trying to nip me. The chestnut mare is far too polite to groom me and as I said earlier, the bay heads for the hills if she sees a brush! ;) They happily groom each other though.

4. Have you ever had a non verbal communication with your horse? If so how? What like telepathic communication? No. :p However they are pretty good at reading body language and of course you could argue that when you ride and your horse obeys your aids that that is non-verbal communication.

5. Do you find you are attracted to a certain type of horse..ie..fiesty, quiet? I'm quite calm, so if my horses were laid back too, we'd never get anywhere! My horses are what you would probably class as hot types (two arabs, and anglo-arab and a TB) but they're not difficult.

6. Have you found being around positive people can affect your performance as a rider? Not really, I prefer to pootle about on my own. Riding a nervous horse who can be nappy and having lessons on her, has improved my riding far more than anything else as I really needed to raise my game or change horse (which I didn't want to do).

7. Has a horse ever mirrored your behaviour? The grey is pretty good at walking on as soon as I move and stopping as soon as I do and turning left/right with me, with no voice aids. I've not had mirroring any further than this.

and lastly....have you ever experienced anything through the insight of what a horse has taught you... Not really. Chestnut mare has been trying to persuade me for years that pretty much everything in this world should be viewed as potentially deadly (especially Alpacas). She's not made me neurotic yet. ;)

1. Have you ever been aware that your mood can actually alter your horses mood? If so how?

All of the time. Honestly, if I'm feeling angry or stressed I don't bother riding because I know he will act the same.

2. How long do you spend grooming your horse each day?

On weekends, a couple of hours and in the week, 20 mins (well the majority of him is white :p)

3. Does your horse ever want to groom you in return?

He never used to, until a couple of weeks ago when I was having a good old cry on him :o it was probably a coincidence but it did cheer me up :)

4. Have you ever had a non verbal communication with your horse? If so how?

In what context? :p Generally I can tell miles off where he's going to have a spook and we second guess where eachother are going to move in the stable, but he's definitely never had a conversation with me :p?

5. Do you find you are attracted to a certain type of horse..ie..fiesty, quiet?

I love them all :)

6. Have you found being around positive people can affect your performance as a rider?

Yes!

7. Has a horse ever mirrored your behaviour?

Yeah, nothing interesting though, lifting a leg, trotting and cantering, walking backwards :p

and lastly....have you ever experienced anything through the insight of what a horse has taught you...

probably!

Your replies are great, keep them coming..and no one is right or wrong, this is just a survey to get an insight as to how YOU as an owner/sharer view your relationship with a horse and how you believe they react to youx

1) yes, horses pick up on mood very quick whether its happy, angry, excited etc.
2) varies, probably averages at 30 mins a day.
3) yes, but only allow it from certain ones.
4) yes, body language is the main form of communication, plus ridden aids.
5) personal choice I like opinionated determined ones with a bit of an attitude & strong wills. Which is how I have been described too. Most of the ones I've clicked best with are normally alpha or lead types
6) not really. I take onboard anything I can learn from but not influenced by others attitudes.

Phone!
7) a lot of body language is mirroring. I run, they run. Halt, they halt. Plus got my pony to nod in trot mirroring me in my teens.
8) not sure what you mean, but you're always learning with horses.
