I am searching for a licensed whippet breeder in Europe. Preferably a breeder with dogs over 10kg and 50cm (large whippets). And a kennel club registration.

That height would be over sized according to the UK Kennel Club breed standard so would not be encouraged (which is not to say that they aren’t out there, but I would hope you wouldn’t find breeders specialising in over-sized breed examples?)

Here in France the standard is 44-51 cm. At least I haven’t really met whippets under 48cm. Thought it is common to find 56cm whippets and their still KC registered.

Ah ha - yes different European countries will have different breed standards as you correctly say, I can only go on what I’ve experienced in the UK I’m afraid

50cm is 19.5 inches. I thought even KC went up to 21"? Both mine are 21" but neither are KC. I prefer the working bred dogs

21” is permitted in dogs but not bitches - although show whippets seem to be getting bigger and bigger nowadays like heffalumps ? I always had the best of both worlds - a working bred bitch who was show quality - she was fab, I wish we’d had digital cameras back in those days lol as I’ve hardly got any pics of her
