Whippet has itchy scabby skin?

Hey everyone, a bit ago my whippet had ringworm on his front leg, got cream off vet and it healed up, then it came back in same place then healed again fine.

But recently he started chewing either side of his tail and back of his legs so we assumed it was still the ringworm so put the cream on but it hasn't helped after about a month, it has got really red and sore looking and looks a lot crustier than the ringworm ever looked!

He has got a cone on but we have discovered he can stretch his bloody long neck out of it and still chew it. We have tried putting sudocreme on which helped a little but it isn't heing very well. My mum thinks the ringworm cream might have irritated and burnt his skin. He does have sensitive skin and has always had bald patches just from lying down, but it didn't burn his front leg!

We are going to buy a longer come if we can, and will have to take him back to the vets but just wondered if anyone else's dogs have had this short of thing before and what is best to soothe it?

you had his anal glands checked recently......... worth getting them checked by vet when he goes back

Echo the anal glands. Get the biggest cone possible, my Springer can still chew his paw with the gsd size on Check his food too and eliminate cereals.

We had this with our jrt, tried everything going from the vets but gave up with them in the end as nothing worked, often known as "hot spots" it seems certain dogs do suffer from them now and again.
I used raw virgin coconut oil on the spots and fed it in their feed, cleared it up and hasn't returned.

Thanks everyone! Didn't think about anal glands but will ask the vet about them.

That hot spot thing is interesting though, I did think maybe he was doing it out of boredom because he is a stressy dog anyway, and my dad is away for a while which means they aren't getting walked as much at the minute. I will have to try and walk them more and maybe wear him out so he doesn't feel the need to chew it. Will have a look for that oil thankyou

Could be a problem with his diet?
Iv come across a new natural supplement that recently did a vet trial and it found the supplement improved dogs with itchy skin so might be worth a shot?
Its available online and called seahorse atlantic!
