A few weeks ago I posted asking about whippets....well I had an accident, and well, now I have a whippety-lurchery dog.

Meet "Archie" he's about 8 months old and was terrible as a coursing dog (is *afraid* of cats! Cries when they come near him and hides!) so was dumped, rescued....and now he's here. Vet has de-flea'd him and health checked....he's fine. We picked him up this morning and he's sweet as anything. We took him to the pet store to buy a crate and weigh him...he loved it! He was perfectly polite, not even nicking things from the open dog treat bins. Everyone loved him and was cuddling him in the store. We had to peel him away.

We took him to the beach for a long walk to tire him out before he met my parent's clan of 3 rescue pups...he flaked out in his crate of his own accord as soon as we got back.

He's not neutered so the balls are coming off asap and he's a consumate bolter so we've got alot of work on a long line to do on recall.

I think the crate training will be quite easy....

Oh Druid he is GORGEOUS :):):):) What a lovely boy, and how lucky to have found such a fabulous home with you :):):):)

PS if ever you dont want him, I'll have him :D

What a gorgeous, and very lucky lad. There was a greyhound rescue stand at a horse show my daughter and I went to last week, we were both so tempted by a lovely fawn and white bitch, had to be very strong willed.

:D LOVE HIM!!!!! good luck with the recall.....as a fellow lurcher owner i know the problems.......mine is fine as long as she doesnt see or smell rabbits, hares, pheasants, deer, etc :D:D:D

Thanks guys....despite getting a "free" dog I seem to be €200 odd lighter after our pet store trip. Ooops?

And Archie's entire too.... ;)

(Disclaimer - I will of course NOT be breeding him and will be getting him neutered asap!)

Stunning boy:) Very similar to my eldest girl in her younger days. Don't know about the lurcher showing situation in Ireland, but if they exist, you should!

Archie is currently at a music festival. No, really. There's a local hippy-ish thing with dogs on strings type folk who are camping in teepees. My mother comandeered him to take as he'd fit in better than her Setter....

He is also an embarrasment at polo matches and was relegated to the car for alternatively attempting to join in and screaming at the players.
